About Us
We opened our creaky gates in 2023 with a simple mission: to make it easy and affordable to buy gorgeous live edge slabs. We aim to provide beautiful and bespoke quality air dried timber, leaving any remaining drying and treatment to you. This has greatly benefited our customers, as they can create high end projects with an affordable budget.
FAQ's
The most common questions when it comes to our air dried slabs.
Will the wood be flat?
Kind of like humans wood changes and adjusts over time in all sorts of ways. We try to show any twist or cupping in the listing photos, but please get in touch if you'd like more information on a slab.
Will the wood be surfaced?
In order to keep our wood as affordable as possible we do not surface the slabs unless requested as part of the order. Please bear in mind this will increase the price of the slab. Surfacing can be achieved with a number of hand or power tools.
Will the wood be dry?
For outdoor projects wood should be air-dried to a moisture level of around 19%. But wood that is intended for indoor use should be closer to 9%. We list the moisture content of each slab when it was listed, we can also provide current readings as this changes over time.
Will there be bugs in my wood?
There may be infestation within any of the slabs we sell as we do not treat them for bugs like woodworm and various beetle species. Not treating the wood helps us to make it affordable and keep our woodyard free of chemicals. Your local DIY store should have all you need to treat the wood yourself for a low cost. Outdoor projects can be left untreated but may deteriorate quicker than a treated piece.
Do you sell finished projects?
We do not currently sell any finished items but are engaging with makers both locally and across the UK. We want to showcase the beautiful wood we have here in Norfolk and if you want to be involved please get in touch!
